News
We are excited to present the Kindergarten program on May 9th.  Please mark this day on your calendars.  The students need to be in Sunday dress and meet in the school library at 5:45.  Both AM and PM classes will be performing together.
Just another head’s up--The last day of school is Wednesday, May 23rd.  All students will get to meet their first grade teacher for next year on this day.  In order for this to happen, we need all students to attend the morning session of kindergarten including those who normally attend the PM class.  We will meet from 8:50-10:50.  There is no Extended Day Kindergarten on this day.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  Thanks so much for your support!

While supplies last, each student who brings their complete calendar will select a prize.  The school with the most participation will receive other prizes and cash awards.  We encourage all to participate!

 News
We have been writing in our journals and the students are becoming more and more skilled in their writing abilities.  We are also focusing on comprehension skills.  Students should be able to answer questions about key details after listening to a text read aloud as well as be able to express their thoughts, feelings and ideas clearly.
In math, we have been working on the numerals 1-19.  We talk about how to decompose the numbers into ten ones and some further ones.
Have a great week and please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Early Literacy Idea
Say words one at a time and have your child touch his/her nose if it begins with the /ch/ sound.  (chair, sun, moon, cheese, chase, boat, chips, etc.)  They love it when you cannot “trick” them with any words.

News
We are having fun learning about the sounds /ch/ and /sh/.  The students know they are letter teams and they work together as a team to make one sound.
We will continue to learn about number sense and counting by tens and fives in math.  For a challenge, you could ask your child how many fingers are on four hands.
Thank you for all you do to make your children’s education a priority!  I appreciate you helping them with homework and making sure their reading is supplemented at home.  I love working with you and your amazing kids!
Enjoy your week and as always, please feel free to contact me any time with questions or concerns.

News
We have been working on comprehension skills.  With some prompting and support, the students are able to answer who, what, where, and when questions.  They are also able to use narrative language to describe characters, settings, things, events, actions, a scene or facts.  They are also becoming more skilled in their writing.
We are working with numerals 11-19 to gain foundations for place value in math.  Each students should understand that eleven is ten ones plus 1 one, twelve is ten ones plus 2 ones, etc.
We have been having fun with science.  We have learned from “Mystery Doug” and have conducted a few of our own science experiments as well.
Thank you for your continued support!  Enjoy your week and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
