Thank you for sending in box tops! Please continue to send them in.  It is a great way to earn money for our school!

NEWS
Our first two weeks at Center-Time have gone well.  THANK YOU to those parents who are helping with this!  The students are enjoying working in small groups and are getting quality individual attention on important academic concepts.

We have learned the letters A-Q.  Your child should be able to correctly identify and write upper and lower case of each of these letters and tell you the sound each one makes.  The sight words we have learned are: me, see, I, can, like, look, here, go.
We have reviewed numerals 1-9 and each student should be able to tell you what each number is and be able to write them correctly.

Our student teacher, Mrs. Pena, is doing a fantastic job with the students and is contributing to the success of our classroom.  She will be in our room until the end of November.

Remember, we will have a party in our room on Halloween day, but costumes are not allowed at school. We will still have lots of fun and thank you to those who are helping with the party!

Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns!  Have a great week!

Lost and Found
All lost items are taken to a room next to the lunchroom --unless it is a small item like a necklace, bracelet, etc. then Mrs. Smith keeps those at the front office.

NEWS
I hope you have enjoyed the holiday!  This week we will be doing some fun Halloween activities and reviewing the many things we have learned since school started.  Please continue to help your child at home by asking him/her questions regarding the letters and sounds.  For example, when you are driving by Wal-Mart, ask what sounds they hear in the word “Wal-Mart”.  What does it start with?  What does it end with?  What other words begin with “W”?  Your help at home reinforces what we learn at school.  THANKS!

We have been working on writing in our class. The more kids write, the better writers they become.  Research shows that kids who are good writers are usually good readers.  Please encourage your child to write grocery lists, make cards, write letters, stories, etc.  We have started “stretching out” words by listening for the sounds in each word and then writing those sounds down.  Don’t worry that your child does not spell every word correctly—encourage them to (1) say the word they want to write, (2) stretch out the word, (3) listen for each sound, (4) write down the sounds they know, (5) try their best!

We will have a party in our room on Halloween day, but costumes are not allowed at school. We will still have lots of fun and thank you to those who are helping with the party!

Please feel free to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns!  Have a great week!

NEWS
SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE OF OUR BLOG NOT BEING UPDATED THIS WEEK!  My computer was not working and so I was unable to make the changes.  For some reason, my computer has been having several issues, but hopefully they are all fixed and I will not have any more problems!

I will send a list home in your child’s homework folder of 25 kindergarten sight words we will be learning this year.  Please use these any way that will help your child the most.  It is especially helpful to make them into flash cards and laminate them so your child can see them over and over again.  The sight words we have learned so far are:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here.

If you signed up to help with the Halloween party, you will be contacted soon.  A huge thank you for your help!

Thanks again for your support and for making your child’s education a positive experience!  Have a wonderful week!
