News
It is exciting to see the students blending sounds together to form words.  They are understanding that a relationship exits between written letters and spoken sounds as well.
We have learned the following sight words:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here, the, go.
In math we are continuing to learn about a ten frame and that the top part is to be counted as the first five and then add on from there to make larger numerals.
We are excited for our Halloween party.  Thank you so much to our wonderful parent volunteers for doing it!  You are greatly appreciated!

News
We have added the /c/ sound as part of our Language Arts study.  /C/ is a tricky spelling because it can stand for the “k” sound (sometimes called the “hard c”) or /s/ (sometimes called the “soft c”).  In the program we use, (CKLA program), however, the /c/ is always sounded /k/.  In addition, we’ve introduced the /g/ sound which is also a tricky spelling.  It can stand for /g/ (sometimes called the “hard g”) or /j/ (sometimes called the “soft g” sound).  In our program, /g/ is always sounded as /g/.
We have learned the following sight words:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here, the.
We are learning how we can count and write 6 and 7 with words and numbers, and represent objects with a number name and a written numeral.  We are matching groups with the same number and continuing to discuss greater than, and less than.
Enjoy your week!  Thanks again for being involved in your child’s education and showing wonderful support!

News
The students are doing well and it sure is fun to see their growth in every area!  We will continue to segment sounds and blend them to make words.  Each of the students should be able to write, identify and tell you the sounds for /m/ /t/ /a/ /d/.
Please ask your child to compare numbers and tell you what “greater than”, “less than” and “the same number” mean.  He/she should also be able to compare sets by “matching”.  We will take the Chapter 2 assessment on Tuesday and the results will come home towards the end of the week.
Thank you again for your help and support at home.  Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.  I am enjoying your children so much!

News
It was wonderful to meet with each of you during SEP Week and discuss the progress of your amazing children! Thank you for making the effort to come and for being such a vital part of your children’s education!
This week we will continue to orally blend sounds to form words, read and write short vowel CVC (consonant, vowel, consonant) words, and practice handwriting in our CKLA program.  We will also introduce “chaining”.  A chain is a series of words, sometimes including pseudo words or, nonsense words, that can be built by changing only one letter or spelling at a time.  For example:  dad, mad, mat, at, cat, cot, dot.
In math, we are comparing sets of objects using direct comparison (matching) and counting the number in each set.  Using matching helps children visualize that when each object has a “partner” the sets have the same number.    Enjoy your week and please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
