News
We are having a great time in Kindergarten!  I am excited about the progress the children continue to make and am enjoying each one of them.  Thanks for your help and support at home.
Please continue to have your child practice writing their last names.  Also, keep working on address, phone number and birthday if they do not have these skills mastered.
We are reading phrases and words as part of our Language Arts program!  In math, we are figuring out how to find the number that makes 10 from a given number.  We continue to make hypothesis in science and the kids love listening to new and old favorite Christmas stories.
Thank you again for your support and help at home!  Enjoy your week!

News
It is hard to believe that December is already here!  It is an exciting time of the year with lots of stories about fun Christmas traditions, Santa, elves and wish lists being shared!  We will continue to make learning a priority and once again appreciate your support at home.
Your child should be able to read the following sight words:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here, go, the, run, up, this.  We will learn “to” and “is” this week.  Most of these words are not spelled phonetically so they have to memorize them.  However, the students are getting really good at segmenting sounds and blending those sounds together to make words, which is important to know as well.
We have lots of items in the Lost and Found that is located next to the school lunchroom.  If you are missing any items, please check there.  Also, it is really helpful if you label your children’s coats, jackets, backpacks etc. in case some have the same items.  Thanks so much!
         Have a wonderful week!

News
I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving holiday!  Thanks again for sharing your wonderful children with me.  We have a super group and each child is progressing and contributing to our class.  Thanks for helping and supporting them at home!
We started our addition chapter in math last week and it is exciting to see the students adding numbers within 5.  We have discussed how addition means to put together or add to something.
In Language Arts, the students are recognizing, isolating, and writing spellings for short vowel sounds and consonant sounds.  They can distinguish between similarly spelled words by identifying the sounds of the letters that differ: for example, peg, pig, pin, pen.
Science continues to be a favorite as we hypothesize what will happen in various experiments and we have learned about our five senses and how we use them in our every day lives.
         Have a wonderful week!

News
Thank you for your continued support at home!  It is great that the homework and reading books come back consistently.  You are wonderful parents.  It is exciting to see the progress your children are making.
We will continue to work hard at school and learn important foundational skills that will help the students throughout their educational experiences.  The students understand that written letters and spoken sounds go hand in hand in learning how to read.  They can figure out the number that makes 10 from any given number 1 through 9 as well as count forward beginning from a given number within the sequence (instead of having to begin at 1).  They can make a scientific hypothesis and determine what the reasoning is behind their prediction. These are just a few of the experiences we are having in our classroom.  Thank you for sharing your children with me!  They are a delight!
If you would like to send a box of crackers with your child for a snack to share with our class, that would be great.  Of course, this is optional!
