The kids
are very excited for the holiday! We are
trying to keep everything as normal as possible and work hard on important
skills. We are especially having a good
time learning about Christmas traditions and customs from around the world.
Thank you
for making school a priority! You are
truly making a difference. I appreciate
how diligent you are with the take home books and the homework.
We will
have our classroom Christmas celebration on Friday. If you volunteered to help or bring
something, the chairperson should be contacting you soon!

Early Literacy Idea
Encourage your child to
write a “story” (one or two sentences).
Look for a capital at the beginning, spaces in between words, and a
period at the end.
News
This week
we will learn about the December holidays celebrated in various cultures and
celebrate the diversity of holiday traditions observed around the world.
Please
have your child practice writing his/her last name. This is one of the requirements for our Kindergarten
Assessment coming up in January. We will
work on last names in our class also, but if you reinforce it at home, it is
much easier for the students.
If you
are missing coats, jackets, or other items from home, please check the Lost and
Found at the school.

It is
hard to believe that December is here already!
It is an exciting month for us at school. There will be many great things going
on. Please remember to send the November
reading calendar back with your child by Friday, December 5th for
the free pizza certificate. Thank you
for your consistent reading to your child at home and for letting your child
read to you as well. Both are important! It really does make a huge difference!
Your
children are delightful and put a smile on my face daily! Thank you for sharing them with me and for
all you are doing to help ensure they are having a successful school year. You are the best!

When reading familiar
stories to your child, try stopping once in a while and let him/her tell you
what comes next in the story. This is a
fun way to help with comprehension skills.

This is a
short week because of the Thanksgiving holiday.
We will continue to do Thanksgiving activities along with our other
academic skills on Monday and Tuesday but we will not have Centers because of the short week. School will not be held on Wednesday-Friday. Enjoy your time together as families! We will learn more about Native Americans and
pilgrims and what life was like in early America. Thank you again for those who volunteered to
furnish items for our Thanksgiving party.
You can send them anytime before Tuesday, Nov. 25th. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

we finished up the alphabet last week!
Your child should be able to recognize each letter, tell what sound each
one makes and write each letter correctly.
We have been working hard on our sight words—me, see, I, can, like,
look, here, the, go, up, this, to, is.
Please ask your child to read each of these words to you!

how books work. As you read, point to
words to show left to right, spaces in between words, and word patterns.

Thank you
for your continued support at home. It
is great that the homework and reading books come back consistently! You are wonderful parents! It is exciting to see the progress your
children are making!
The
students are becoming great readers and writers! We will finish up the letters and sounds this
week. We have worked on the following
sight words: me, see, I, can, like,
look, here, the, go, up. We will
continue to learn a poem for each of the letters A-Z and our sight words. They are a lot of fun and help with
memorization skills.
We will
have Centers this week, but because we are out Wednesday through Friday of the
following week for the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not have them during the
week of Nov. 24th.
If you
signed up to furnish something for our Thanksgiving party, I have attached a
reminder in your child’s homework folder.
You can send them anytime before Tuesday, Nov. 25th. THANK YOU SO MUCH!

We are learning about many things in kindergarten and your children are
progressing beautifully!
Please
continue to ask your child often to tell you what sound each letter makes. We will finish up the letters and sounds of
each of the alphabet soon. This is a
great accomplishment for these little ones.
Thank you for your help at home.
We just
finished our chapter 3 test in our Go Math program and the kids are grasping
the important concepts of one to one correspondence, forming the numbers
correctly and understanding “greater and fewer”.
