Early Literacy Idea
Sing songs together and do finger
plays.
Remember our
reading goal is 15 minutes a night/five night a week. Please read to your child and have him/her
read to you! This is so important! Thanks for all you do!
News
We have
added the /c/ sound as part of our Language Arts study. /C/ is a tricky spelling because it can stand
for the “k” sound (sometimes called the “hard c”) or /s/ (sometimes called the
“soft c”). In the program we use, (CKLA
program), however, the /c/ is always sounded /k/. In addition, we’ve introduced the /g/ sound
which is also a tricky spelling. It can
stand for /g/ (sometimes called the “hard g”) or /j/ (sometimes called the
“soft g” sound). In our program, /g/ is
always sounded as /g/.
We have
learned the following sight words: me,
see, I, can, like, look, here, the.
We are
learning how we can count and write 6 and 7 with words and numbers, and
represent objects with a number name and a written numeral. We are matching groups with the same number
and continuing to discuss greater than, and less than.
Enjoy
your week! Thanks again for being
involved in your child’s education and showing wonderful support!
