Early Literacy Idea
Encourage your child to write the
names of the people in your family.
Drawing pictures to go along with the names is fun too!
Remember our
reading goal is 15 minutes a night/five night a week. Please read to your child and have him/her
read to you! This is so important! Thanks for all you do!
News
Each child in Kindergarten should now be getting a
leveled book from the Literacy Room that goes back and forth from home to
school every day. Hooray! Please have your child point to each word as
they read the book. This is an important
early reading skill.
SEP Week
is a wonderful opportunity to meet with each of you and talk about your child’s
school experience. I will be sending
home SEP papers at the end of the month with your individual times that we can
meet together. Please bring your student
with you as we will be discussing their progress.
Please
have your child practice reading and writing “nonsense” words. You can have
them first listen to a nonsense word that you tell them using the consonant,
vowel, consonant pattern (kig, taf, het, zub, jom), etc. Afterwards, have them write that same
word. See if they are able to write it
independently.
We
finished up with our Chapter 4 test in Go Math.
Please look in your child’s backpack to see the exciting results. Each one is improving in mastering the
concepts and understanding how the test taking process works. We are learning all about addition now.
Thank you
again for your support at home. Have a
fantastic week!
