News
We
have been doing lots of writing activities in our classroom. The more students write, the better writers
they become. Research shows that kids
who are good writers are usually good readers.
Encourage your child to write grocery lists, make cards, write stories,
etc. Have them “stretch out” words by
listening for the sounds they hear in each word and writing those sounds. Don’t worry that your child does not spell
each word correctly—encourage them to (1) say the word they want to write
slowly, (2) stretch out the word, (3) listen for each sound, (4) write down the
sounds they know and (5) try their best.
We
will have a classroom party on Halloween day and if you signed up to help, thank
you so very much! You will be contacted
in the next few days with the details. Please do not have your child wear a
costume to school on that day.
It is such a
distraction and the kids have a difficult time focusing on academics when they
are in their costumes. Thank you for
your understanding!
As always, feel free to contact me with
any questions or concerns!
