All lost items are taken to
a room next to the lunchroom --unless it is a small item like a necklace,
bracelet, etc. then Mrs. Smith keeps those at the front office.
NEWS
I hope you
have enjoyed the holiday! This week we
will be doing some fun Halloween activities and reviewing the many things we
have learned since school started.
Please continue to help your child at home by asking him/her questions
regarding the letters and sounds. For
example, when you are driving by Wal-Mart, ask what sounds they hear in the
word “Wal-Mart”. What does it start
with? What does it end with? What other words begin with “W”? Your help at home reinforces what we learn at
school. THANKS!
We have been
working on writing in our class. The more kids write, the better writers they
become. Research shows that kids who are
good writers are usually good readers.
Please encourage your child to write grocery lists, make cards, write letters,
stories, etc. We have started
“stretching out” words by listening for the sounds in each word and then
writing those sounds down. Don’t worry
that your child does not spell every word correctly—encourage them to (1) say
the word they want to write, (2) stretch out the word, (3) listen for each
sound, (4) write down the sounds they know, (5) try their best!
We will have
a party in our room on Halloween day, but costumes are not allowed at
school. We will still have lots of fun and thank you to those who are
helping with the party!
Please feel
free to call or e-mail with any questions or concerns! Have a great week!
