Early Literacy
Idea
Ask your
child questions about key details after reading a story. Encourage them to answer using complete
sentences.
Remember our reading goal is 15 minutes a
night/five night a week. Please read to
your child and have him/her read to you!
This is so important! Thanks for
all you do
News
All
students at South Elementary will celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2nd. It will be fun to learn more about his life
and read some of the books he wrote.
We have
been focusing on comprehension skills.
Students should be able to answer questions about key details after
listening to a text read aloud as well as be able to express their thoughts,
feelings and ideas clearly.
In math,
we have been working on subtraction sentences and learning about “related
facts”. (3 + 1 = 4; 4 – 1 = 3) We are also still working hard on subtraction
concepts.
We have been writing in our journals and the
students are becoming more and more skilled in their writing abilities.
Thank you
again for your support. Enjoy your week
and thank you for sharing your children with me!
