Early Literacy Idea
When reading familiar stories to your child, try stopping once in a while and let him/her fill in what comes next in the story.  This is a fun way to help with comprehension skills.

NEWS
This is a short week because of the Thanksgiving Holiday. Again, we will not have Centers this week, but will plan to see those who volunteer back beginning the week of Dec. 2nd. Remember school will be out on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.  Have a wonderful holiday and enjoy spending time with your families!

We have had a fun time learning about Native Americans and pilgrims and what life was like in early America.  We will have our Thanksgiving celebration in our classroom on Tuesday.  Thanks again to those parents who signed up to furnish items on that day!

Each of your children should be able to recognize every letter of the alphabet, both upper and lower case as well as tell the sounds they make.  Please ask your child to read the alphabet chart to you that is in their homework folder.  Our math skills are coming along and we now have a poem in our poetry binders that we have learned for each letter of the alphabet.  We have learned fourteen sight words!  These kindergartners are such a delight and are progressing well!

NEWS
We will have Centers this week, but because we are out Wednesday through Friday the following week for the Thanksgiving holiday, we will not have Centers during that week.  Thanks again for all of you who help with Centers.  You are greatly appreciated!

If you signed up to furnish something for our Thanksgiving party, I have attached a reminder on your child’s homework packet for this week.  THANK YOU for helping.  You can send the items with your child either on Monday or Tuesday, (Nov. 25th or 26th).

Please make sure your child can recite his/her birthday, address and phone number.  This is important information that each one needs to know but because it is so individualized, it is very difficult for me to teach.  Please help your child with this.  THANK YOU!

I appreciate all you are doing to ensure your child’s success in school. Please feel free to contact me anytime!

NEWS
Thank you for the continued support at home!  It is great that the homework and reading books come back consistently.  You are wonderful parents!  It is exciting to see the progress your children are making!

The students are becoming great readers, writers and mathematicians.  Be sure to ask them to read the following sight words to you:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here, the, go, up.  Also, ask them to recite a favorite poem or two from their poetry binders that we have diligently been working on.  The poems are a lot of fun and help with memorization skills.

As it starts getting colder, please make sure your children’s names are on their coats and jackets so we don’t loose them.  There are several coats and jackets on the tables set up by the gym so if your child is missing one, please take a look and see if any belong to you.

Thanks again for everything you are doing to ensure your child’s success in school.  It is greatly appreciated.  Please feel free to contact me anytime!
