NEWS
Happy November!  Thanks again for sharing your wonderful children with me.  We have a super group and each child is progressing and contributing to our class.  If you haven’t already done so, please remember to fill out and send the October reading calendar back to school so your child can get the free pizza certificate.  Reading is such a great way to help your child be successful in school!

Please continue to ask your child to tell you what sound each letter makes.  We will finish up the letters and sounds of each of the alphabet soon.  This is a great accomplishment for these little ones.  Thank you for your support at home.

Have a nice week and as always, please feel free to contact me any time!

Remember our reading goal is 15 minutes a night/five nights a week.  Please read to your child and have him/her read to you!  This is so important!  Thanks for all you do!

NEWS
We have been practicing writing in our class.  The more kids write, the better writers they become.  Research shows that kids who are good writers are usually good readers.  Encourage your child to write grocery lists, make cards, write letters, stories, etc.  Let them “stretch out” words by listening for the sounds they hear in each word and writing down the sounds they can hear.  Don’t worry that your child does not spell each word correctly.  Encourage them to (1) say the word they want to write slowly, (2) stretch out the word, (3) listen for each sound, (4) write down the sounds they know and (5) try their best without a lot of help from you.

As always, please feel free to contact me anytime!  I love your children and enjoy seeing them succeed.  Thank you for your support at home!

NEWS
I hope you all enjoyed your Harvest Holiday/Fall Recess and were able to spend some quality time with your kindergartners.  It will be a great week for us in the classroom as we continue to work hard and have fun learning important concepts in all areas of the curriculum.

Your children are progressing nicely academically and I sure enjoy seeing them succeed in so many other ways as well!  They are getting the routine down, helping each other, making friends, and staying focused while completing their work.  Thanks again for making school a priority and for helping with homework and reading!

It is a school policy that Halloween costumes are not worn at school.  We will still have a fun party on Halloween day.  A huge thank-you to those who are helping with the planning and providing supplies.  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and have a great week!  Take Care!

We have been reminded that it is a good idea for parents of young children to discuss the importance of “Stranger Danger” and have a password that your child knows.

NEWS
Our first week of centers went well!  THANK YOU to those parents and grandparents who are helping!  We will only have centers on Monday of this week and then go back to our regular schedule when we come back from our Fall Recess/Harvest Holiday on Tuesday, Oct. 22nd.

We have worked hard on the letters A – N and will continue with O and P for our short week this week.  Your child should be able to correctly identify and write upper and lower case of each of these letters and tell you the sound each one makes.  The sight words we have learned are:  me, see, I, can, like, look, here, the.  We are learning a lot about numbers and number words and have just about mastered writing our names the kindergarten way—with a capital at the beginning of our name and all the rest lower case!  The students are amazing artists and are writing beautiful sentences with a capital, spaces in between words and ending with a period.

It is a school policy that Halloween costumes are not worn at school.  Have a wonderful week!  Thanks for your support!

NEWS
We will work on the letters Mm, Nn, and Oo this week.  We are learning important math concepts in our new math program, “Go Math” and our new literacy computer program, Waterford, is allowing individualized instruction for each child.  Thank you for your help with the homework and for making school a top priority!

Picture retakes are on Thursday, Oct. 10th. If you want re-takes for your child, send back the entire picture package on that day for a new picture to be taken.  If you missed pictures the first time, your child can have his/her picture taken on that day as well, but you need to send the money with your child and include which packet you want to purchase.
