NEWS
I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss the progress of your child during our SEP (Student Education Plan) Week.  Remember that kindergarten will be held from 8:50-10:50 for the AM class and 12:30-2:30 for the PM class, even on Early Out Wednesday for this week.

Please sign the reading calendar for February and return it with your child by Monday, March 4th.  Remember to keep track of the reading minutes both on the classroom calendar I send home each month and the “Kite Flight for Reading & Sight”.  Our school earns money for each calendar turned in at the event on April 27th, plus your child earns a free kite, book or movie pass.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns and thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me!

NEWS
Our SEP (Student Education Plan) Week is March 4-8. I look forward to meeting with each of you to discuss the progress of your child.  You are a wonderful support to your precious kindergartner.  Your child will bring an individual meeting time home in his/her homework folder on Monday.  Please sign the paper and send it back with your child as soon as possible.  During that week, kindergarten will be held from 8:50-10:50 for the AM class and 12:30-2:30 for the PM class, even on Early Out Wednesday.

We have enjoyed our “Green Ribbon Week” and will continue talking about good health and nutrition skills.  We will discover and discuss ways they can be healthy and fit and how taking care of their bodies now can benefit them throughout their lives.

Once again, please know that I enjoy teaching your child and seeing the growth he/she is making!  Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

NEWS
Thank you for your continued support and reading of the blog.  It is the best way I know of to keep you updated on what is going on in the classroom. Of course, I would love to visit with each of you any time, so please feel free to call, e-mail or stop by any time with questions or concerns.

Our SEP (Students Education Plan) Week is March 4-8.  A schedule will come home with your child later on to confirm a meeting time, but just wanted to give you a heads-up.  During that week, kindergarten will be held from 8:50-10:50 for the AM class and 12:30-2:30 for the PM class, even on Early Out Wednesday.

We have enjoyed discussing patriotism and the birthdays of Presidents Washington and Lincoln.  We have also learned about some of the American symbols and why they are important to us.

I love teaching your children!  It is exciting to see them learning new things and striving to accomplish the kindergarten curriculum.  Please continue reading with your child each night and providing assistance with the homework when necessary.  You truly are making a difference in their love for learning!  Have a wonderful week!

Early Literacy Ideas
·      Read rhymes, poetry, nursery rhymes and stories that “play” with language.
·      Sing songs together and do finger plays.

NEWS
Our practice Lock-Down drill went very well.  The students were attentive and followed the procedures without any problems.  The police department emphasized the importance of every adult in the building needing to have a name badge on. Thank you to the volunteers who help in our classroom and for making sure you stop in the office to pick up your name badge.
Remember we will have our Valentines party on Thursday, February 14th.  The students can bring Valentines to their classmates Monday-Wednesday of this week.  We have 23 students in the AM class and 18 students in the PM class.  To avoid confusion, please do not have your child put individual classmates names on the Valentines, just have them sign their own name on the back of the Valentine or on the envelope. It simplifies the “passing out” process so much!
I encourage you to help your child participate in the “Kite Flight for Reading & Sight” program.  (A light pink calendar was sent home last week with further information—if you need another one, please let me know).  Our students can earn money for our school depending on how many students participate. Last year, the students earned $660 just from reading!  It is a win-win situation!  Prizes and money can be earned and more importantly, a life-long reading habit is being established!

NEWS
Thank you for helping your children with their homework, nightly reading and all the other learning experiences you are providing for them.  We will continue to work hard at school and learn new concepts as they relate to the kindergarten curriculum as well as life skills.
You will notice your child’s assessment results in the homework folder that will come home on Monday.  Please feel free to call or e-mail if you have any questions!
The “Kite Flight for Reading & Sight” calendar and our regular classroom reading calendar can be used simultaneuously.  Just mark how many minutes are read on each one.
