Thank you for sending box-tops into the classroom and  for participating in the other school fund raisers!

MARCH/APRIL
Congratulations to all of our kindergarten students who participated in the Science Fair.  Each one did an outstanding job!

We are planning our Spring Field trip to the SUU Farm on Thursday, April 7th.  Lets hope the weather will cooperate! A permission slip with further information will come home next week.  We will not have Centers on that day so those of you who usually come, enjoy a day off.  I want to give a huge thank-you to all of the parent volunteers.  You are greatly appreciated!  Also, thanks to all parents for supporting your children with reading each night and homework.

Remember if you are interested in requesting a teacher for next year, Mr. Oldroyd will have the form available on the school website for you to fill out on March 28th.  Your requests will need to be on this specific form that you can copy off and bring to him by April 15th.  It must be on this form.  He will not accept it after April 15th.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!  THANK YOU!!!

Thank you for reading with your child or having your child read to you at least 20 minutes a night!  You are making a difference in your child’s education!

MARCH
We are continuing to learn important skills that will help your kindergartner be better prepared for first grade.  It is exciting to see the progress being made in all areas of the curriculum.  We have learned 36 sight words, written many stories, mastered addition and subtraction facts, read hundreds of books and studied lots of interesting science facts!  Your children are very brilliant—make sure to ask them lots of questions that they are thrilled to answer for you!

Please be aware that last week an older lady in a dark, newer, four-door car tried to give two students from South Elementary some money to get in her car.  It occurred one block east of the school on 400 South.  It has been reported to the police, but we wanted to let parents know.  Please remind your children of the importance of never getting into a car with someone they do not know.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns!  THANK YOU!!!

THANK YOU for coming to SEP’s!  It was wonderful to meet with each of you and discuss your child’s progress!

MARCH
We will begin a fun unit about animals and animal homes.  We will learn about all kinds of animals throughout the world and what kind of homes they have.

There are a lot of kindergarten skills we will continue to review and add some new portions of the curriculum to our schedule as well.  Please ask your child to predict what a story is about by looking at the pictures and then after the story is read, have him/her retell the story to you including the beginning, the middle and the end of the story.

If you are interested in requesting a teacher for next year, Mr. Oldroyd will have the form available on the school website for you to fill out on March 28th.  Your requests will need to be on this specific form that you can copy off and bring to him by April 15th.  It must be on this form.  He will not accept it after April 15th.
